FASHION WEEK SPRING SUMMER 2015-2016 HIGHLIGHTS
New York brought an endless mix of textures and bold colors. Varied textures using lace, satin and silk were seen on the runways of Givenchy and Monique Lhuillier. Boho chic and retro femininity also made waves at Betsey Johnson and BCBG Max Azria’s collections, reminding us of the carefree feel of summer.
London Fashion Week kicked into high gear with ensembles that reminded us that summer is just around the corner. Innovation and jungle-inspired motifs were well received at Christopher Raeburn’s show, while sensuality, elegance and femininity remain a favorite on the catwalks of Roksanda Illincic and Barbara Casasola. House of Holland and Paul Smith were also on our radar for bringing back eccentric shapes and colored prints with modern silhouettes and tailoring.
Milan’s runways grow year after year, ranging from the sensual and romantic Italian flair found at the collections of Costume National to the femininity and boldness delivered by John Richmond. At the Genny and Salvatore Ferragamo shows, fashion was taken at ease with a cool mix of volume and flowing silhouettes in dynamic colors.
The fashion week season took its final curtain call in Paris. Andrew GN’s Spring/Summer collection showed an array of geometric and sequined designs. His flora and fauna embellishments were followed by John Galliano’s widely diverse pieces with sexy undertones. Issey Miyake presented ruffles and culottes, precisely capturing the essence of the Spring/Summer season, while Pascal Millet hearkened to the tropics with an oceanic backdrop and free-flowing pieces.
